Aiden and Ireland’s Nursery {before}
March 24, 2008 by Megan
This week I’ll be taking you on a tour of the shared nursery I’ve designed for my son (18 months) and daughter (brand new!). Today’s photos are before shots, highlighting the distinct areas of the room. Then, throughout the week I’ll show you how I’ve decorated each area and share with you the fabulous products I’ve used to do so.
The first area is the crib. Currently this is Aiden’s crib while Ireland sleeps in a bassinet in our room. Soon, this will become Ireland’s crib and Aiden will get a new one (I’m still on the hunt for a second crib/toddler bed). This week, I’ll show you how I’ve dressed the crib area for my son and how it will be dressed shortly for my daughter.
This little nook area will serve as a reading space with a rocking chair and book shelf. I’ll also use this area to store toys including a couple that made it into the before shot (radio flyer wagon and gigi doll by blablakids.com). This photo also shows off the beautiful color we’ve painted the room, a soothing blue tone. This color is great for both boys’ and girls’ rooms and I love how other colors really pop against it.
This space is the changing area. A simple white dresser serves as a changing table. I’ll dress the area up with wall art and accessories.
Be sure to check in each day this week for the rest of Aiden and Ireland’s nursery tour. The space is also still a work in progress, so please feel free to shower me with suggestions and ideas. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
…and be sure to submit your own nursery photos to our Nursery Photo Contest. Together we can inspire each other and create beautiful spaces for our little ones.

I’m so excited to see how you decorate! Looks like you have great spaces to work with. Isn’t it fun, when you know the possibilities are endless?
Megan, you need to get Aiden a toddler bed. They have the best ones at Ikea. My son has the blue one which is very close to the floor. He’s slept on it since 19 months and loves it!
