Weekend Read: Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner

little-earthquakes One of the best books I’ve found to capture the emotions, both the elating and the difficult,  of new motherhood is Little Earthquakes: A Novel (Washington Square Press).  Known for her best selling novel, In Her Shoes, which was turned into a fab chick flick starring Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette; Jennifer Weiner is a talented writer with a knack for developing characters with universal appeal.  Little Earthquakes is no exception, following the lives of four women, experiencing the ups and downs of 1st year motherhood.

The women meet as many expecting mothers do, in pre-natal yoga.  Though their lives are quite different in most aspects, they develop a common bond centered around their roles as new mothers.  What I loved most about this book is that I could relate to all four women, each in a different way.  You will truly come to love these characters, as you celebrate in their joys as new moms, and sympathize with their struggles.

This is an excellent read for all moms, but especially recommended for brand new moms.  I suggest snagging up a copy of Little Earthquakes, available for 32% off at Amazon.com.
